“Today’s announcement is a testament to Albertans’ care and commitment in keeping themselves, their families and communities safe from COVID-19. We thank you for becoming immunized at levels which make it possible to resume life without widespread public health restrictions.

“The City of Edmonton will approach Stage 3 reopening in the same way that we reactivated programs and services in Stages 1 and 2 -- by making public and employee safety our first priority and by relying on a set of decision-making principles to move forward. Those principles include considerations for City resources, the need for decisions to be inclusive and equitable, and the commitment to support the economic vibrancy of Edmonton.”

“We will be working hard over the next weeks and months to stage the reopening of our programs and services and we encourage Edmontonians to visit edmonton.ca frequently for the most up-to-date information.”

The Stage 3 reopening announcement is welcome and exciting news. We balance it with the reality that COVID-19 is still with us. Vaccines, frequent hand sanitization and staying home when sick are still effective tools to keep our community safe.”

- Statement by City Manager Andre Corbould

Province of Alberta Restrictions

The province has put in place mandatory public health measures across Alberta to protect the health system and slow the spread of COVID-19.

The province has mandated that all Alberta employees must work from home unless physical presence is necessary.

Restrictions continue to evolve constantly. For the most up-to-date information on the mandatory provincial restrictions, please visit alberta.ca/COVID19.

The Government of Alberta has introduced a robust immunization program to help combat COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines help prevent you from getting infected and protect you from getting severely sick if you do get it.

Enforcement Activation

The City supports the restrictions announced by the province by activating our enforcement teams.

Through close coordination with Edmonton Police Service (EPS) and Alberta Health Services (AHS), teams of Peace Officers work seven days a week to support enforcement of the City’s Face Covering bylaw and provincial Public Health Orders. While enforcement has occurred throughout the pandemic, we are concentrating  our efforts on businesses, public spaces, gatherings and worship centres.

Outdoor Experiences

The City of Edmonton offers outdoor opportunities for active living that you can take advantage of during the pandemic.
