Bylaws search

Accessing bylaws through the City of Edmonton Archives offers the following benefits:

  • Assistance in accessing repealed bylaws, now maintained as historical records
  • 24/7 access to current bylaws
  • Increased search options

The Municipal Government Act authorizes cities such as Edmonton to create and enforce bylaws to maintain the health, safety, and wellness of the community.

Edmonton's bylaws are enacted by City Council and maintained by the Office of the City Clerk. The Office of the City Clerk is available to clarify information, if needed.

Signed Bylaw

Users will require, at a minimum, to find a signed bylaw on an agenda or meeting: the date and meeting at which the bylaw was passed (such as, December 5, 2017, City Council meeting). Having the bylaw number and/or title will make it easier for the user to find the agenda item to which the signed bylaw is linked.
